How does anything ever change on this planet? Through people empowering themselves with the conviction that one person can make an impressionable difference in something. This internal belief has the power to do everything from disempowering corrupt systems to nurturing consciously evolved social ideas.

Yet, with the awareness of this power should come the awareness that we cannot force sleepers to become awakened. A sleeper is someone who has not yet realized that every single aspect within this vast and infinite matrix of consciousness that observably can be called the Universe/Multiverse is interconnected. Let the sleepers enjoy their rest… their slumber will end soon enough, when the time is right.

This realization can be explosive, and in the negative sense if forced onto someone who is not ready to become awakened. Those minds which are unprepared for this expanded level of awareness should be left alone for the time being. They feel that all their needs, wants, and desires are satisfied by the hallucination of culture and therefore should be left alone for now. Hope however that one day, following their own pace and on their own time, they will feel the pull to take an inner path to self-realization.

With the power that you hold within yourself, do not try to convert; do not try to take off the rose-colored glasses people may have on. As Terrence McKenna said many times, find the others. Find those that have the will, courage, and determination to travel down the path towards self-realization and consciousness expansion. These are the people you should focus on, as they have taken the most difficult step…they have awakened.

Nobody has expressed this undertaking more beautifully than perhaps Pierre Teilhard de Chardin when he said that “there is an almost sensual longing for communion with others who have a larger vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendships between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality almost impossible to describe.”Remember that everything is energy and if we try to work with individuals who are radiating an energy that is diametrically opposite of ours, serenity and rapport cannot be reached.

Theoretically it may be possible to grab someone by the hand and get them on the inner path (this most often occurs through the use of entheogens). However, the end result is unpredictable and may cost of us more time, energy, and effort than it is worth. Share, support, and learn from other awakened souls who share the same passion, vision, and quest as you do. You will notice very quickly that the more you converge with such people, the faster you will feel that you yourself will rise into the highest echelons of consciousness. Feeding off each others’ energy, you will climb, you will fly, you will transcend.

You Are The Infinite ExplorerBy realizing that the power you need in order to become consciously evolved and eventually enlightened is within you, no more will you be fooled by others into believing that there is any single belief system or school of thought that has all the answers.

It’s like the Buddha said, “Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

By empowering the infinite explorer that is your Self, you cease living a shadow of what you are and start living as a liberated soul on a quest to experiencing happiness and bliss as a perpetual state of consciousness that helps shift the collective consciousness of humanity to that very same level.

You are the catalyst for change. You are the awakened that will help transform humanity into something greater. You will be an example of what a consciously evolved human race looks like. Be mindful that everyone is growing at their own pace in their own time. There is no need to prove anything to anyone that is not ready for blunt and perception-shifting realizations. All good things come in due time. Seek out the others who have already embarked on the inner path and who no longer wish to be a part of a hallucinatory reality.

They are out there, and their numbers grow every day. Seek them out in any way you are able to. With today’s technology, this is easier than it has ever been in history, period. So go on and find the others who also realize that the power is within them. Together, we can live a future that is based on unity rather than separateness…a future where love is more expansive than hate. Say it can’t happen and it won’t. Turn this dream into a reality.

Humanity is now experiencing the birth pangs of a global social transformation the likes of which have never experienced in recorded history.

Never in the history of human life on this planet has there been such a grave and serious threat of the planet that we live on becoming uninhabitable because of the actions of one species that has asserted its dominance.

Nearly everyone feels that something big is happening, although the reasons being proclaimed for this are as numerous as the stars, thanks to peoples’ various belief systems, subjective perceptions and current levels of knowledge and information about what is going on.

We are now in a completely new phase of evolution, a fundamental evolution of consciousness, that will change everything. This is an intentional evolution, based upon the shifting of our consciousness out of the ego’s domain and into the unity-oriented domain. Oneness among all peoples, regardless of how similar or different they may be to our own selves, will be key to this transition.

By uniting together as one species, one family, we can not only ensure that we survive, but also that we thrive and transcend the lower realms of consciousness so that we can have a world that is finally filled with peace, love, and happiness (and not just filled with empty rhetoric). Not doing so will seal our fate in experiencing the most soul-crushing of dystopias imaginable.

There is thankfully an emerging worldview arising out of the ashes of the old order and it can be seen as a sign of immense hope for the immediate future. In order for our long-term future to be a bright one we must become unified in seeing this emerging unity-oriented worldview as being the key to a future we can all be proud of.

Do we want possible future explorers of our solar system to come upon our planet, find our artifacts and discover how foolish we were in our planetary and species self-destruction, becoming a footnote in the history annals of sentient races that brought about their own demise because of a lack of understanding about the interconnectedness of everything?

Will we be looked upon as being an “intelligent” species that could have avoided imploding on itself if it only discarded its self-destructive positions of awareness? Let’s not become a footnote in a book of failed evolutionary experiments and become something that we can be proud of.

Let’s not forget how many similarities we have. Think about all the social conditioning from the point of birth to the time of death. Look at all the beliefs we amass that divide us as a species and notice how these are not necessarily representative of reality but were learned behaviors that further perpetuated the destructive cycles in human behavior that we see today.

There is a continuously-increasing number of people that are realizing the importance of an intentional shift in the collective consciousness of humanity. They feel within themselves that they have a critical role to play in this shift if they wish to see it occur. These people see that the entire socio-economic system has to be changed. When they look around and see the egoistic expression of greed manifest itself through the haves taking more and more from the have-nots. They see that 13.7 billion years of cosmic evolution did not intend to end here, with the current sad state of affairs.

The psychological addiction of consuming and acquiring, manifested through materialism seems to be increasingly infecting more minds in a shorter amount of time. We are at a dangerous position in our evolution where the old ego-dominated mentality is fighting desperately to maintain its current level of power because they are far too invested in the current order to give it all up and make the evolutionary quantum leap into a new humanity.

Trailblazing Towards a New Humanity

There is an increasing amount of individuals who are taking the human race by the hand towards the unity-oriented vision of humanity that is the answer to the current problems we face (since it is aligned with the nature of our environment).

These people dedicate their lives to this cause, because they believe so deeply in it and have such an immense love for our human family, and naturally to the rest of life on our planet that is losing up to 100,000 species to extinction every year. The individuals can be called intentional evolutionaries, since they are making it a life goal for helping humanity make the shift and transition to the new unifying humanity that embodies the mind states of peace, love, and compassion above all else.

They will not allow these things to turn into cliches as has happened in the past, but will live them and become the literal expression of these higher levels of consciousness for the benefit of themselves and of everyone/everything else. As Pierre Teilhard de Chardin had once said, “there is an almost sensual longing for communion with others who have a larger vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendships between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality almost impossible to describe”.

How true this is since the feelings being expressed by these intentional evolutionaries are as genuine and good-natured as can be. There is no ego formulating a hidden agenda or trying to create a subversive attempt in order to get something for themselves. No, they recognize that they have a critical role to play in consciousness shift that is occurring.

They know that if this consciousness evolution is to continue to fulfill its potential, it now must be deliberate, and they feel with the whole of their hearts that it is their responsibility and destiny to ensure this happens.

Unity and diversity need not been separate. It’s possible to be united in the expression of higher mind states such as compassion, joy, love, and peace while keeping the attributes which make each one of us special and unique. Cooperation on a global level is possible and in fact necessary if we are to make the transition to a new humanity.

It seems as if it’s something a child would understand, but unfortunately the actions of some (particularly world leaders in government and industry) demonstrate that this elementary concept is not grasped by the aging remnants of the old world order. War, famine, and environmental destruction would be a thing of the past if only the peoples of the world cooperated with each other to bring about such a world. Today, with various crises extending far beyond any one country’s borders, there is a very real possibility for global unity and cooperation to finally become a reality.

If the human response to crises such as the ones following Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, and the revolutions against tyranny around the world tell us anything it’s that we can put our differences aside and unify to cooperative with each other in order to create a positive change. Do not become depressed about the state of affairs currently on our planet. There is a massive awakening occurring with a realization that it is now or never. We need to shape up or we’re shipping out of this world with no possibility of coming back anytime soon.

Become an intentional evolutionary and take advantage of every opportunity that may arise in order to promote the creation of a fundamental consciousness shift that is global in size and scope. Make it a part of your life’s purpose to help in creating a critical mass of consciously evolved individuals that will stop the destructive nature of the current socio-economic order. Our very future and survival depends on it.

10 Ways To Shift Your Consciousness

http://www.bodymindsoulspirit.com/10-ways-to-shift-your-consciousness/

Paul Lenda

In moments of stress, anxiety and other intense harmful mind states that we experience within our lives, it can be difficult to keep our focus on positive personal development. The thought of becoming an enlightened sage radiating seemingly-perpetual positive energy can seem far off… an unattainable goal given life’s everyday problems. True as it may seem to be, this is a mental mechanism that blocks our ability to see things for what they are, namely that, “Your Self is already inherently liberated. It is the ideas that have been imposed on that Self which must be set free,” as Gangaji once mused.

We’re going to take a look at 10 ways in which you can help shift your consciousness to a higher level of well-being. These tools, methods and mind states will help you become consciously evolved and on your way towards the expansion of your awareness.

Compassion

By being compassionate, we embrace the sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress, together with a desire to alleviate it. By experiencing compassion, we also experience the awareness of the interdependence of all things. Compassion is an active choice to want for others the alleviation of their suffering. Compassionate action is a willingness to go beyond our own self-interests for the good of others. We let go of our own needs to attend to the needs of others so that we can meet our own deepest need: to feel connected to something…to feel a part of a larger shared humanity.

Boundary Dissolution

By experiencing boundary dissolution, we experience a deconstruction and dissolving of boundaries that have been created by human cultures and societies and which have existed as long as the self-centered ego has influenced humanity. The purpose of boundary dissolution is to do away with these falsehoods that separate humanity instead of uniting it. When you dissolve the boundaries that divide and separate you from others, you will have the ability to transform your world into one of serenity, tranquility and peace. Oneness will not be just a philosophical concept but a reality that will be experienced by the totality of the human race.

Appreciation

When you appreciate someone, you are tuned into their positive qualities and express your empathy and gratitude for them. Appreciation results in positive vibration offered to all and further inspiration and expansion into a greater you. It’s a simple way to refresh ourselves, to open up heart-felt connections to ourselves and to others. Appreciation is both a fully-focused delight about whatever it is that feels good and a recognition of your own ability to intend and allow its manifestation.

Appreciate a deep relaxing breath of air or maybe the pleasurable radiant warmth of the sun. The simple things you might take for granted are all worthy of appreciation. As you do this, try to focus completely on the good this experience or item offers you, and acknowledge that you and only you have created it, no matter how it came to you. No matter your condition or circumstances, there will always be something that you can find to appreciate. If it seems that your life is lacking in happiness, just look for a single thing each day and honor your part in manifesting it, then think of any and every aspect of that item or condition that is a positive force in your life.

Inner Peace

Having inner peace means that we are mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep ourselves strong in the face of difficult and stressful life experiences. In some cultures inner peace is considered a state of consciousness that can be cultivated by taking up things like meditation, Tai Chi or yoga. Many spiritual practices refer to this kind of peace as being an experience of knowing your own self. The solution to finding inner peace requires us to look at the problem from a new perspective. We cannot change the nature of the world or its problems, but we can add a new dimension to life that will give us peace.

We may not be able to eliminate all the problems of the world, but through meditation we can attain peace and happiness. We can make our family life more peaceful, loving and caring. We can help change the society in which we live. We can be a source of peace to all those around us. By leading a life in which we are caring and loving to others, we will develop into ideal human beings. By gaining inner peace, we can also achieve outer peace. Some people mistakenly think that the path of meditation is one of escapism. They feel that it requires you to sit in a cave or on a mountain top like a hermit. Meditation doesn’t lead to escapism, instead it makes us more alive.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the moment-to-moment experience of peace and understanding that occurs when someone who feels injured has their suffering reduced, as they transform their grievance against the person or group that initiated the experience that led to that suffering. Forgiveness involves a sense of felt unity with one who has hurt us and can be regressive or progressive. By embracing the feeling of forgiveness as something that can help us, we accept it as an aspect of acceptance, love, peace, and truth, instead of experiencing hatred, emotionalism, negativity, falsehood…all of which are aspects of resentment.

Forgiveness brings utter peace of mind. Resentment brings inner turmoil and suffering. Forgiveness means choosing to see the absolute perfection and beauty in everything. Everything and everyone is currently operating at its own level of awareness and/or evolution. Everyone and everything is what it is right now because that’s what it needs to learn or un-learn. People are what they are and make mistakes because they really don’t know otherwise or they don’t want to know otherwise. If they really knew otherwise, they would already be otherwise.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of mind where you pay attention in a certain way. Mindfulness practice expands your field of awareness, allowing for improved oversight of somatic and effective experiencing, thanks to which you can experience an enhanced capacity for self-regulation of our arousal, affect and behavior. Mindfulness is incredibly helpful to us for several reasons. For starters, it reflects only what is presently happening and in exactly the way it is happening. There are no biases.

Mindfulness is also the ability of the mind to observe without criticism. With this ability, you see things without condemnation or judgment. Nothing surprises you…you just take a balanced interest in things exactly as they are in their natural states. You don’t decide and you don’t judge…you just observe. Mindfulness registers experiences, but it does not compare them. It does not label them or categorize them. It just observes everything as if it were occurring for the first time. Mindfulness sees things as they really are. Once mindfulness becomes part of your everyday life, you develop the capacity to tolerate and accept painful experience, and you cultivate inner resources that help stabilize affect and reduce impulsiveness. For help with increasing your mindfulness, you should practice a meditation technique called vipassana, which was introduced around 2,500 years ago and has been specifically focused on experiencing a state of uninterrupted mindfulness.

Selflessness

When we are selfless, we shift our focus onto the needs of others, rather than keeping it on ourselves. It is the practice of being unselfish and minimizing the gratification of the ego’s wants and desires. In order to make the life-redefining shift from selfishness to selflessness, go and focus on the well-being of others. This can be done in countless ways. You can clean up your life and surrender a fully healed body, heart, mind and soul to others when entering a relationship. You can also be ready to share any amount of time needed by others whenever they need. Be happy with your life and with whatever you are offered by others. Whenever you are sure to give your very best possible, you are receiving exactly whatever you need for your greatest possible spiritual benefit.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia is a yearning for a return to some past period or seemingly-irrecoverable condition. It is the reliving of a past time, which is usually seen in a more positive light than the reality of that experience may have been. Studies have found that people who have a heightened level of nostalgia have higher self-esteem and are less prone to depression. Thinking of good memories for just 15 or 20 minutes a day can make you more cheerful than you were the week before, and happier than if you think of your current life. Nostalgia is a very potent mood booster, so if you seem to be in a bit of a funk, think about good memories of times past and you will experience higher self-esteem and feel more positively about friendships and close relationships.

Post-Materialism

As the Czech poet-president Vaclav Havel once said, “If the world is to change for the better, it must have a change in human consciousness.” Albert Einstein mused in a similar vein when he said that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the very definition of insanity. The world’s problems are grand and are many. The only way these problems can be solved is by a fundamental and profound shift in human consciousness. Making the shift to post-materialism requires us to take a few steps first.

We need to face the implications of population and consumption growth for pollution, climate change and environmental destruction. We need to realize that materialist values make for less happy lives. We need to identify and promote things in life that matter more than economic growth. We need to understand and experience the nature of the oneness and interconnectedness of all things and people.

Wonder

Wonder is the experience of those who reach a sense or state of so-called perfection in the ordering of the world. Experiences of wonder can lead us to a sense of transcendence and realization of higher states of being. From a mystical perspective, wonder relates to affirmation as wonder openings reveal the infinite and the source of all that is, which operate as gateways to uniting experiences. Energetically, wonder is an expression of Eros, a life force that propels one into the present moment and into life and that magnifies attentional capacities.

Buddhism muses that distinctions limited to relative or empirical reality are artificial and result in perpetuating the anguish, the pain and the frustration that some speak of because we become alienated from experience. Religious practice and customs propagate and create alterations in perception. Ultimately, through such alterations, we are able to experience the transparency of relative existence and of subject-object separations that exist in reality. In other words, wonder leads us tasting a unified and infinite existence.

Paul Lenda – 5 Things Happy People Do Before Getting Out of Bed Every Morning – 2-7-15

Paul LendaYou just woke up and are ready to get out of your bed and start your day. But wait! Let’s bring some mindfulness into life from the moment we get lucid.

I recently saw a list floating around of five things you should do before getting out of bed, and a chain of events led me to putting them into words to share with others.

These five things can be looked at as life hacks because they’re so simple and easy to add to our daily routine yet so effective that it begs the question why we weren’t doing them before.

You’ll soon discover that they will elevate your state of mind and make you feel like you’re going to be successful at whatever you set out to do. The first step towards accomplishing something is having the intent to accomplish something. These five things will help you do just that.

1. Express gratitude

Every new day leads to a new way to say “thank you” for being alive. Everything we experience and are capable of experiencing on this blue marble in this universal arena is something to be grateful for.

Contemplate the fact that something rather than nothing exists and that within that something we exist and experience such an amazing reality. There is always something to be grateful for, we simply need to look around us and within us. Through continued gratitude we cannot help but feel an explosive volcanic eruption of bliss to be so fortunate as to have what we have.

Don’t get hung up on what you don’t have, because that will lead you to disappointment and suffering. Our life situation may never be ideal in our eyes but at any point on our life paths we can stop and be mindful of what we appreciate about our lives.

Feeling like it’s difficult to find something to be grateful for? You can always get down to the basics… “Thank you for this breath that gives me life”.  Say it or feel it, it doesn’t matter how you express gratitude, as long as the conscious intention is there.

2. Set your intentions for the day

Treat your thoughts as if they were spells of magic, replicating in the real world from the garden of your mind. Our thoughts are what shape the reality we personally experience. If we intend for something to happen, either to our state of mind or our life situation, we usually make it happen.

If we want to be happy, we do what we know has brought us happiness before or what we feel will make us happy. If we want to get out of a physically or emotionally toxic environment, we initiate plans to move or relocate somewhere else. Without that initial energy to move things towards a new direction, our situation won’t be moved towards a change.

Most of us have to get up for work on a regular basis which leads to going through the motions of getting out of bed, getting ready and going to work. Before we do any of that we can affirm, either in the form of saying aloud or writing down, what we intend for the day or wish to get done.

This could be something specific like set the intention to go grocery shopping, or something more broad, such as intending to not say anything hurtful to anyone we interact with that day.

3. Take five long deep breaths in & out

Breathing is what keeps us alive. If we stopped breathing, our hearts would stop beating and we wouldn’t live to see a new day. Breath is incredibly powerful and can take us into transcendental states of consciousness where we become masters of our inner fire.

All too often we baseline to shallow breathing which may sustain our lives but will not optimize them. Get up to the next level. Breathe in and breathe out deeply for as long as is comfortable… s l o w l y. You should feel your stress and tension melt away like butter on a hot day. If you want to enhance your breathing, get some essential oils like eucalyptus to keep beside your bed and take deep whiffs. Start your day off feeling refreshed.

4. Smile for no reason — just flex the muscle

Smiling is one of the best free life hacks we have. You know how difficult it is to stay angry or not feel better when smiling. All that serotonin and all those endorphins flooding your brain chemically cure melancholia.

The pronoia sets in and you get off to a great start for the new day. Smiling has been shown to reduce stress, reduce blood pressure and boost the immune system which is all the more reason to do it after leaving Dreamland. Smile and get elevated.

5. Forgive yourself for yesterday’s mistakes

Can anybody say they lead a “perfect” life? Hardly. We all make mistakes… actions or reactions we come to later regret because we feel it would have been better if we didn’t do them. Forgiveness benefits you more than anyone else. Through forgiveness we stop holding on to the cause of our suffering and let it go. Acknowledge that you made a mistake and while you can’t change the past, you can create a new present.

Everything is in a constant state of change… it’s the only constant in existence. We change all the time whether we realize it or not. We are not the same person we were yesterday, a year ago, or a decade ago.

We shouldn’t forevermore hold something against ourselves since that will only create more suffering. We have all suffered enough for one reason or another. Let’s not add any unnecessary suffering to our lives. Look at your shadows, acknowledge their transient nature and let them go.

Paul Lenda – Survival of the Kindest – Humankind Evolving, Becoming More Compassionate – 12-15-14

Paul LendaBy Paul Lenda, March 9, 2013 at http://www.shift.is/2013/05/the-survival-of-the-kindest/ | Thanks to Golden Age of Gaia.

In recent history it has been thought that human beings are hardwired to be instinctively selfish. This perception of reality made for way for the Western “every man for himself” concept and idea that we are individualistic at the core of our nature.

However, many studies being conducted over the past several years are demonstrating that this idea is not accurately portraying the underlying nature of human beings.

There is mounting evidence that the human race is evolving towards becoming more compassionate and collaborative since our survival counts on these things.

In fact, the reasons given by a growing group of psychologists as to why we humans are as successful at surviving and thriving as we are, is because of our nurturing, altruistic, and compassionate traits.

With the understanding of the concept of oneness and the interconnected nature of all aspects in Reality, it is realized that this revolutionary perception on evolution makes sense. By being kind to another, we benefit not only that other individual by elevating their positive emotions, but also benefit ourselves by elevating our own.

There has been a study done at the University of Montreal that has found that emotions, depending on whether they are positive or negative, have the ability to either increase or decrease pain.

With this being the case, it would be in the best interests of human beings to gravitate towards positive and compassionate feelings and emotions rather than those to the contrary.

By being more positive, compassionate, and kind, humans reap rewards instead of experiencing punishments from maladaptive and detrimental emotions and states of consciousness such as anger. In fact, anger has been found to be linked to all the major causes of death in humans.

It would therefore be obvious that the evolutionary process of consciousness would prefer emotional states that transcend anger.

If all of this is true, then the genes responsible for the predisposition of anger in some, as found in a study where there was a discovery that anger has a genetic component, will gradually tune out of existence according to the “survival of the kindest” model of consciousness evolution.

Dacher Keltner is the co-director of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center and he has expressed recently that “human beings have survived as a species because we have evolved the capacities to care for those in need and to cooperate. As Darwin long ago surmised, sympathy is our strongest instinct.”

This expression of empathy by human beings is directly connected to the realization of oneness being the fundamental aspect of Reality, whether it is a conscious or an unconscious realization.

Empathy is the ability to feel what another feels and has recently been found to be a genetic predisposition in human beings. By feeling what another feels, we are able to better understand what another is going through, since we are able to experience it for ourselves.

The greatest teacher in life is experience and so it is not difficult to understand that empathy is able to give critical insight into another’s life situation.

If a person is feeling melancholy, the feeling of empathy can have a person desire to elevate the melancholic individual’s emotional state to a higher level.

Once this process occurs, the higher emotional state will have a positive effect on the other person and benefit both parties. It is in our everyone’s best interests to have an elevated level of consciousness, for we are all One.

A sociologist by the name of Robb Willer has expressed that the more generous we are, the more respect and influence we are able to have. In one study which has backed up this assertion, participants were each given a modest amount of cash and were told to play games of varying complexity that would benefit the “public good.”

The findings demonstrated that participants who acted more generously received more gifts, respect and cooperation from their peers and had more influence over them.

Willer said that “the findings suggest that anyone who acts only in his or her narrow self-interest will be shunned, disrespected, even hated, but those who behave generously with others are held in high esteem by their peers and thus rise in status.

Given how much is to be gained through generosity, social scientists increasingly wonder less why people are ever generous and more why they are ever selfish.”

Call it karma, cause and effect, or a result of interconnectedness and oneness, being kind and compassionate is being seen as a driving force in the evolution of human consciousness and our continued extropy into the future.

There is evidence of positive emotional states increasing within the global consciousness of humanity, which shines a hopeful light on where the future of the human race will be.

After analyzing data from the World Values Survey based at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research, it was found that in the past 25 years, the overall happiness of human beings around the world has been rising substantially.

This finding goes hand in hand with the theory of the human race experiencing an evolution of consciousness to progressively higher levels.

For humans to be inherently selfish would be illogical since they would only be harming themselves in the end. Given that humans are still thriving demonstrates that helping others, being kind, experiencing empathy, and practicing compassion have all been part of the human experience as long as we have existed.

If we are to truly experience extropy in the future, the realization of oneness is something that should be within the forefront of our minds. With oneness, come all the positive expressions of consciousness such as love, empathy, and kindness.

We are all in this together and it has become apparent that it is in our best interests, as a race, to express these higher states of be-ing.

Paul Lenda – Becoming an Intentional Evolutionary – 12-8-14

Paul LendaBy Paul Lenda, September 24, 2014

You would be hard-pressed to find someone that does not feel that there are massive changes happening on our planet, whether they are environmental, societal, political, or otherwise.

The reasons for the cornucopia of paradigm shifts are often many and involve a high degree of multi-faceted complexity.

Now that we are collectively at a crossroads where our decisions will define our future perhaps more significantly than at any other time in history, we can find ourselves faced with the wonderful opportunity to transition away from the current modus operandi and co-create a world where unity is the underlying basis for society and its actions, not separateness or division.

As Buddhist teacher Doug Duncan once said, “You cannot have outer revolution without inner revolution.” If we are to see humanity experience a higher collective quality of life, both physically and spiritually, there needs to be an internal transformation that precedes an external transformation.

The reality of things as we see them in the world is a reflection of our collective level of consciousness.

If you look around you it will be easy to see the consciousness of desire, greed and pride influencing and guiding many of the systems that society relies on.

All three of these are a reflection of a mindset rooted in division and separateness as well as an overarching philosophy of duality within the minds of the powerful and influential elements of society.

Conversely, the ancient Golden Rule, which is a philosophy for life that permeates almost all major belief systems, is based on the idea of interconnected unity among all people and reflects a message of non-duality that is aligned with the true nature of reality.

Replacing the paradigms of disharmony with those coherent with our environment and its systems paves the path for positive intentional evolution. We should not feel powerless in the face of the problems society and humanity faces today.

The keys to our future are in our hands (or our minds, rather). Transforming the world is not supposed to be the responsibility of a few enlightened sages. Creating a better world is the responsibility of each one of us.

Together, we can either stand on the sidelines and watch as the consciousness of greed, pride and desire take us down a dystopian path or we can alter the future by together making a shift towards things that increase peoples’ well-being and promote self-actualization.

MIT and the University of Melbourne have recently predicted that the world economy will collapse by 2030, a prediction foreseen by the Club of Rome back in 1972.

Perhaps this will be helpful for a genuine reboot in how humanity conducts trade or maybe this can be avoided if a radically different kind of thought is applied to the structures that support the mechanics of the present economy at large.

What is certain is that a intentional evolutionaries, we have the power to co-create a better structure-process that can replace inefficient models that stagnate our collective growth and tend to increase the level of suffering in our lives.

Siddhartha Gautama once said that, “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.”

By being intentional evolutionaries we harness our mind power in a way that creates positive and meaningful change for our collective good.

One person alone may not have a great effect on the whole but if many of us come together and focus on co-creating the same result then we will certainly see a monumental societal shift reflecting the power of a collective consciousness with a conviction for making the world a better place that has more balance and harmony.

The world is changing…be on the transition team.

Paul Lenda – Minimizing Ego, Realizing Self – 12-8-14

Minimizing Ego to Become Self Realized Minimizing Ego, Realizing Self

By Paul Lenda, Guest Writer for Wake Up World, December 8, 2014 – http://tinyurl.com/nls4cnn

For many of us, the question “Who am I?” is a much more difficult one than we let ourselves believe. The ego, the “I”, or self that we feel we are, is largely a figment of our self-created reality. Ultimately, our true self is not the ego which feels it is separate from others, but a part of an undivided whole that has the same spark of infinite love that is within everyone and everything — even if it seems sometimes that this is not the case.

The ego can become so incredibly empowered at times that we may fall into the trap of believing that it is the real and genuine “I” that we should associated our awareness with. If we have such a belief we will be unable to become fully self-realized and live a completely liberated life that is guided by love. When we directly experience and are aware of the true self, we find ourselves being aware of the reality that we are water drops from an infinite sea.

The ego is unreal in a way. We create it in order to cope with our social interactions. The ego is a false center, a smokescreen, and a barrier to the true Self. It’s what gets in the way of experiencing unconditional love. It’s what gets in the way of directly experiencing the source of reality. It’s the deeply-buried but always-present intuition that we are the center of the universe/everything that gives rise to feelings and beliefs in our uniqueness and specialness. What we see ourselves as being, which is a perception that stems from our time-and-sense-bound consciousness is ultimately unreal.

All of our self-limiting activities grow out of this false picture of ourselves and because of this we conjure up an idea of a dualistic world of self and other, of things separated and isolated, of pain and struggle, birth and death, killing and being killed, etc etc etc. This picture of reality that we paint for ourselves is untrue because it’s not seeing reality for the way it truly is. A good analogy for this is that it’s like looking at the tip of an iceberg above the water and refusing to acknowledge the most of it is still underneath the water.

If we could see beyond the continuously-changing forms into the primary reality, we would realize that fundamentally there is nothing but harmony and unity and that this perfection is no different from the phenomenal world of continuous change and transformation.

I’m not saying that the ego is inherently “wrong” to posses – we all possess it, after all. It can be likened to a tool that we have and can use and just like with any tool, if you don’t have it under control, it carries with it the potential to become dangerous, and cause you and others a great deal of harm, pain, and suffering. This is why I used the term ego minimization.

As you transcend lower levels of consciousness that are firmly rooted within the domain of the ego, you become less and less prone to falling into the grip of the ego and letting it sway you every which way it pleases. Through ego minimization, we are able to directly experience the true nature of who we are. The question of “Who am I?” becomes a much easier question to answer when we get out of our own way.

Self-realization in its fundamental and most elementary meaning is the direct experience and awareness of the true self (that luminous spark of the source of all that is that is all that is within itself). The higher Self is often masked by the false self, which by now you probably see is the ego. Both transpersonal psychology and psychosynthesis explore and unravel the nature of self-realization. In Hinduism, it refers to the experiencing the reality that one’s higher Self is a mirror image and spark of the the Source or ultimate reality. By minimizing the ego and truly honoring the Self, enlightenment becomes a state of existence we can finally attain.

So how can we get from an ego-dominated life to a self-realized one filled with harmony and unity? There’s many ways to go about it. Some ways are the following:

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but simply a list of ways that have helped me in my own self-realization. In an age where youth see a lack of true leaders to help them in their quest to answer the age-old question of “Who am I?”, many turn to psychedelics in order to peel away the thick layers of false-self that the ego has hidden our true self under.

Although enlightenment doesn’t come on a piece of paper, or in a pill, or a sugar cube, there are some who are now self-realized who attribute their awakening to breaking down ego in this way. But attachment to the technology that opened the door for us must too be left behind, if genuine and enlightenment are our goals.

Whatever methods you use for minimizing the ego, it is ultimately the end-result that truly matters, not the path you take to get to it. Pay attention to how your ego controls your thoughts and actions so that you can recognize it, and reduce its grasp on your life. Once you identify how ego affects you, you can minimize its influence on your being, helping to clear your way to that blissful state of pure be-ing.

If you truly wish to become enlightened, starting within is a fundamental step.

Are you ready to peel away the layers of illusion?

We all have dreams, hopes, and aspirations. Most of these are left to the confines of our minds, acting only as seemingly-unattainable realities that are nice to think about in order to escape the daily reality we find ourselves in, day after day. It doesn’t have to be this way.

We as humans have the incredible, unbridled will that can be the driving force for attaining the most amazing dreams, hopes, and aspirations we come up with. Combine this will with the courage to transform our thoughts into realities and an unstoppable determination to actualize those thoughts, and you now have the mental framework laid out which will allow you to live your dreams.

As humans we have relatively short lifespans and as we grow older and begin to feel the side effects of ageing we tend to reflect more and more on our past and the things we’ve managed to accomplish or have experienced. This self-reflection can lead to great sadness and depression if we look back and see regretfully that we didn’t chase our dreams (usually because of the fear of the great unknown), or we have regrets about things we did that we never reacted to with actions that could undo those regretful decisions.

It doesn’t have to be this way… it doesn’t have to be this way at all. Why settle for anything less than the life you imagined for yourself? If you look around you and see that others have attained what you wish you had, then this shows you that you can create the same reality for yourself. As long as what you dream for yourself is possible within the confines of the 3D reality we as human beings experience on a daily basis, then the only obstacle between you and living the life you imagine for yourself is your mind. As the Kala, Makia, and Mana principles in the ancient Hawaiian Huna Philosophy state:

There are no limits… Energy flows where attention goes… All power comes from within.

There are no limits to the mind except those that we acknowledge, as Napoleon Hill had once said. When we realize the barrier to living our lives in the way that we feel would make us content and happy is our very own mind (and more specifically, the structure-process of illusion created by the human mind calledthe ego) then once we become aware of this, we can say “To hell with these self-imposed limits, I want to live my dreams and chase away the doubts!”

Yes, it really is that simple. To change your mindset is the most critical and most important step in actualizing your dreams. The rest will follow but you need to establish a welcoming environment within your mind for those dreams so that they can eventually become dreams no more, but expressions of your actual life. In the words of Lao Tzu“when I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”

Why settle for anything less than that which brings you incredible bliss, joy, ecstasy, and happiness? You shouldn’t have to. This is your life, this is your time to shine. If you see yourself living a life that is but a shadow of what you dream your life was like, then the time to change is now. Change your state of mind and the rest will sure follow.

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and your discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” –Patanjali

WakingTimes – Paul Lenda – Humanity Is Waking Up To The Intelligence Of Nature – 3 October 2013

waking_times_logo_6-5-12_1

There’s a heightening level of awareness within the human race with regards to nature and all that is contained within it. Everything from the discoveries of the rudiments of language in monkeys, metacognition in dolphins, self-awareness of elephants, the ability for animals to tell “right” from “wrong”, to the creation and extension of the bills of rights for animals and plants by countries such as Switzerland and Ecuador, as well as the acknowledgment of dolphins as being non-human persons.

There’s a growing awareness by humanity that nature and its inhabitants are not as primitive and simple as it may have been believed to be the case in the past. With this growing awareness, comes growing understanding of the unity that humanity has with the environment within which it exists. This sense of unity with nature is not something new and indeed has been the primary position of awareness for many societies in existence before their industrialization.

In today’s post-modern societies, there is a resurgence of that connection with the biosphere and interconnected organism that is the planet and all that exists within its domain. As more discoveries are made, greater awareness shines down on humanity’s collective consciousness and thereby, allowing us to evolve the transpersonal consciousness to a level where the ego is no longer the dominator of the Self.

Science can be a wonderful thing. It can prove without a doubt what may have been suggested in times past, but was not completely understood as being the absolute truth, which always left a bit of doubt or confusion. However, with continuous scientific discoveries occurring all the time, it is of great fortune that we are able to attain substantial data and knowledge concerning the environment and all that it encompasses.

With these new discoveries, it is being quite apparent that humans have mistakenly been ignorant and arrogant concerning the mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms with respect to their levels of sophistication, evolution, consciousness, and awareness. If we were to start looking at the mineral kingdom, much can be seen from recently-made discoveries.

Of course, there has been such an influx of findings that they would be able to fill up an entire book. However, just a few will be looked at in order to demonstrate the point at hand. All of the discoveries and findings mentioned within this article have been announced publicly within the last few years.

Rocks have been looked at as generally non-living, inanimate, unconscious, and completely devoid of any life-like characteristics, even though everything in nature possesses self-organization. However, stunning new evidence shows the incredible diversity of crystals and minerals after the rise of life on this planet and points to the reality that rocks, like plants and animals, have been evolving all this time, and we did not even realize it until now. This idea is being called “mineral evolution,” which is the concept that many of the our planet’s rocks, minerals and crystals are dynamic species which emerged and transformed over time.

Of course, the evolution of the mineral kingdom is not exactly the same as the evolution of the plant and animal kingdoms, since minerals do not mutate, reproduce or complete like other living organisms, at least to our knowledge. However, the vast variety and abundance of all the various minerals on Earth have changed quite dramatically over the 4.5+ billion years of Earth’s past. US geologist Robert Hazen, who led the research team for this finding, said that “for at least 2.5 billion years, and possibly since the emergence of life, Earth’s mineralogy has evolved in parallel with biology.”

This should not be too big of a surprise to us, however. It makes quite a bit of sense that evolution is all-encompassing…everything from our consciousness, to galaxies, to rocks. Everything is in a constant state of be-ing and become-ing, and the condition that the various aspects of Reality are static does not find much underlying evidence. It looks more and more as if Reality is dynamic and extropic in nature.

Stepping out of the mineral kingdom, we make our way to the plant kingdom. Although it has been known for quite some time that the rainforests of the world act as lungs for the planet, it has recently been discovered that they act as a heart as well. What this implies is that not only are rainforests giant carbon sinks of the planet (acting as lungs), but they may also be responsible for moving many of the weather patterns that we see all around the globe (just as the physical heart moves blood throughout the entire body).

The new study researching this subject suggests that rainforests, such as the ones in Africa and South America, create winds that circulate water around the planet. It is known that more than half the rainfall in rainforests evaporates and recirculates, which then keeps the upper air moist. New findings show that rainforests are also moving the air around them, which also has the effect of moving the water around.

It turns out that as important as plants and trees are to ensure that there is enough clean oxygen for all sentient beings on the plante to thrive and survive, they are now acknowledged as being even more important by affecting the very weather patterns of our biosphere.

Perhaps as a response to the various discoveries concerning the plant kingdom, there have been governments across the planet that have taken it upon themselves to become trailblazers in the area of plant and ecosystem rights. This higher awareness has been most recently demonstrated in the countries of Switzerland and Ecuador.

In the case of Switzerland, the Swiss Government’s Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology has come to the consensus that plants have rights and that they have to be treated appropriately. Making our way to Ecuador, we can see that the country has changed its constitution to say that nature has “the right to the maintenance and regeneration of its vital cycles, structure, functions and evolutionary processes.” The basis of these rights “change the status of ecosystems from being regarded as property under the law to being recognized as rights-bearing entities.”

The idea of plants having a degree of consciousness is very well documented, and so it is not unreasonable for a government to come up with such a conclusion in respect to the plant kingdom. However, the perceptions of humans are not always quick to shift and change. It is demonstrations such as these which show that there is indeed a higher awareness being experienced by humanity with relation to its biosphere neighbors.

Emerging out of the plant kingdom and into the animal kingdom, a myriad of recent discoveries exemplify humanity’s growing awareness of the sophistication and higher level of be-ing at which animals exist. The latest and most well-known finding is concerning dolphins. Dolphins have been perceived as being very intelligent beings for at least several thousand years. In ancient Greece, it was punishable by death to kill or harm a dolphin.

Much mythology revolves around dolphins. However, concerning the scientific data being research and analyzed, it has been found without doubt that human language and dolphin movement patterns show similarities in brevity. The law of brevity in human language, according to which the most frequently-used words tend to be the shortest, extends to dolphins, as well as other animal species. It was observed that when dolphins move on the surface of the water, they tend to make the simplest movements, in the same way that humans tend to use words comprised of fewer letters when they are speaking or writing.

Perhaps it is discoveries such as these and others that are altering the positions of awareness that humanity has concerning dolphins to the point where they are being described by scientsts as being non-human persons and, as a result, should be treated as such. Dolphins are recognized as being the most intelligent beings on our planet, after humans. The signs are numerous, such as: the anatomical research showing that dolphin brains have many key features associated with high intelligence; and studies showing that dolphins have distinct personalities, strong sense of self, and the ability to think about the future. Dolphins are also cultural animals, which means that new types of behavior can be quickly picked up by one dolphin from another.

More stunning research has discovered that dolphins, as well as other animals such as macaque monkeys, have shown to have conscious metacognition. There is a growing amount of evidence that animals share functional parallels with human conscious metacognition. Metacognition is essentially the ability to reflect upon, monitor or regulate various states of mind, and, although this was once considered solely the domain of humans, it is now seen as evident in some animals as well. J. David Smith, Ph.D., a comparative psychologist who has conducted a study on this topic, has concluded that “metacognition rivals language and tool use in its potential to establish important continuities or discontinuities between human and animal minds.”

Metacognition aside, animals are also now known to possess self-awareness. First seen in gorillas and then later in elephants and dolphins, self-awareness is no longer solely recognized as being the domain of the human being. When most animals see themselves in a mirror, they will interpret what they see as another animal, possibly a threat, and may attack the image or be scared away. After a while, the animals habituate and ignore the reflected image entirely. However, an animal that is self-aware will recognize the image as its own reflection, which is something that requires a degree of abstract thought and cognitive association.

As fascinating as these things may be, new research has discovered that several species of animals, such as monkeys, wolves, coyotes, elephants, chimpanzees, rodents, bats, and whales, have a sense of what is called “morality”, in that they are able to subjectively tell “right” from “wrong”. In a series of studies, scientists have found that monkeys and apes can make judgments about fairness, offer altruistic help and empathize when a fellow animal is ill or in a difficult situation. The existence of a conscience is also apparent, and remembering obligations also exists. Even when there is no obvious reward for an an altruistic action, chimpanzees were still observed as willing to help others. The conclusion of this observation led to the statement by one of the researchers that “chimpanzees spontaneously help both humans and each other in carefully controlled tests.”

Perhaps the most interesting point in this discovery is that everything else being equal, animals such as chimpanzees prefer to reward a companion together with themselves rather than just themselves alone. The act of giving by the monkeys is self-rewarding and can be said as being a demonstration of the interconnected consciousness of monkeys, just as humans, within their interconnected transpersonal consciousness, will experience the same effect. As the old adage goes: what you do to another, you do to/for yourself.

Language among animals is the one final demonstration, at least in this article, of the elevated level of consciousness and be-ing in other aspects of nature. It has been recently found that the rudiments of language exist among monkeys. Certain monkeys that have been studied have been seen to combine the same calls in different ways, using rules of grammar that turn sound into language. Alban Lemasson, a primatologist at the University of Rennes in France, has stated that “this is the first evidence we have in animal communication that they can combine, in a semantic way, different calls to create a new message.”

As it stands, it seems that humans are no longer the sole users of language in the sophisticated manner in which we use it. Although nowhere as complex as the syntax of human beings, monkey calls are more advanced and complex than we have ever previously been aware.

All these discoveries have occurred within a few years and are demonstrative of the incredibly accelerated rise in awareness that humanity is experiencing with respect to the level of consciousness of the various aspects of nature, as well as how primitive nature and all its various aspects seemed to be in times past. There is an awakening to a more intelligent nature than has ever been previously acknowledged. This is a step towards a new age in which humans and the rest of nature will hopefully have a more symbiotic and unifying relationship, and more respect will be given to the environment. Baby steps, for sure, but baby steps towards a positive future, nonetheless.
