The world is undergoing a very turbulent evolutionary process. As the very fabric of our society crumbles, a new paradigm is beckoning us founded on unconditional love, joy and mutual respect for all life. The question is, how do we join it?
There are many ways up the ‘spiritual mountain’, for each of us there is a unique path. Yet those who have climbed before us often speak of five key expansions, five key ‘altitudes’ through which we all tend to pass. It is a common journey that has been established by spiritual masters through the ages.
Inner transitions to a higher level of consciousness
My original awakening (Gateway 1) happened quite dramatically during a car-crash. I found myself suddenly expanded into multiple realms of consciousness. But this was not a near-death experience as some have described. Although I was convinced I was going to die, I did not leave the body. Instead I released, let go and unfolded internally into multiple levels of reality. Later I realised I had embraced new realms – especially the Fifth Dimension – all inside of myself. I could contemplate something in the lower third dimension, observe something for example, and then instantly know in the higher plane the deeper significance of that event or circumstance. Streaming synchronicity had instantly become my mother tongue.
Following the crash, my consciousness contracted again (much to my disappointment!), but then over the course of the next eight years, a higher guiding presence took me in hand and guided me through four other Gateway expansions (what some have termed “initiations”) leading me back to the place I had briefly and so exquisitely tasted earlier on. Now, this expanded reality is a part of my daily consciousness.I have come to realise that our reality is arrayed in dimensional realms of existence and that we have a bodily relationship to each dimension, which we become ‘attached’ to. It is quite clear to me now, that the spiritual journey involves the release of attachment by the soul to these various dimensions. In so doing, we experience an expansion of consciousness taking us into a new energetic paradigm – a new Dimensional Realm – which is present here and now all around us. So it is like we are being tested in each level of consciousness until we embrace, enfold and integrate the ‘lessons’ we came here to evolve through.
As we process and integrate those lessons, we release ourselves from the attachment to that particular dimension – the emotional for example – upon which our internal configuration of consciousness shifts quite dramatically which is then mirrored into our outer world by a ‘ceremony’ to mark the occasion. It could be the ending of a relationship, leaving a job, moving to a more uplifting environment, having a life changing illness or accident. Such events can be the marker indicating the internal shift from one state to the other – we have passed through a Gateway.
The five key expansions
Many consider that our planetary system is now ascending into the Fifth Dimension. So in order to join Gaia in the higher paradigm, you might well expect that we have to transition five key barriers/bridges and indeed that appears to be the case. Whilst every soul and every journey is unique, we are hearing from people all around the world that they too are undergoing these life changing transitions. As we ascend the ‘spiritual mountain’, we may all take a different path, but it is becoming ever more obvious we pass through key transitional ‘altitudes’ on route to the summit, each with its consistent challenges and opportunities.
Like for example processing our emotional attachments which tends to happen in the Second Gateway, dealing with inner child identities in the third or past life karma as we unfold through the Fourth Gateway – that of Enlightenment. So what are the Five Gateways? Here is a pictorial summary…

A ‘Diagnosis’ for your journey
The classic view in society is that we shape our reality by the choices we make in a third dimensional sense. So if we become dissatisfied in some way, we may change our partner, our job, our home or the car for example. But what is mostly not realised, is that every aspect of our lives is shaped by our inner configuration of consciousness. We may change the circumstances, but if we have not shifted internally, then we will simply recreate – manifest – the same old patterns which we are sure to trip over again in the future unless we deal with the pattern itself.
This is what many are referring to as “The Law of Attraction”. But in my view (and others) even this is being much misunderstood. By The Law of Attraction we draw to ourselves exactly the right situations and circumstances to create mirroring experiences – a window to the soul. If we then try to intentionally create a more cosy outer world by manipulating the inner one, we may temporarily create a more materially abundant reality yes, but it is still an illusion that risks diverting us from our destiny – the continued evolution into a higher paradigm.
So our inner configuration of consciousness influences and affects every single thought, emotion and feeling we have. By looking into the mirror of our choices – the external world of effects – we may compare the experiences against the route map and determine exactly why our lives are shaping as they are. We get to understand the causality. So for example, we may be experiencing difficulty in relationships or we might be struggling to find a fulfilling relationship. Perhaps then we are dealing with our emotional attachments within Gateway 2? Perhaps we must learn to let go of the need for a particular partner, for our partner to be a certain way, or to have a partner at all! So understanding the Gateways and how they integrate within our lives can be of profound benefit. That is why people have likened it to a route-map through the darkness.
Changing our world from within
Some might consider that focusing so intently on one’s own evolution when there are so many problems in the world is somehow selfish. But to me this would be quite a limited viewpoint. We exist in a co-creative consensus reality where every aspect of how we live and interact is influenced by what we are being within.
Whether we fully realise it or not, there is a universal organising energy at work in the world acting through every circumstance and event. When we fully tune into the synchronicity, we get to read the bigger picture and appreciate that we are being guided forwards and ‘upwards’ into higher harmonies of existence. The only way we can fully tune into that bigger picture is by tuning within.
So a new reality – a Renewed Earth – is unfolding all around us which humanity is being invited to join. But the only way to access it is inside. And as we walk our unique pathway of the Five Gateways, we unfold the soul and infuse it into every aspect of our lives. The light shines ever brighter through us which then ripples into our outer world changing it for the good of all.
To my mind, this is why the conscious uprising in Tunisia and Egypt was so successful for example. Because it happened as a shift of consciousness within a new generation of people. They were doing just what other leaders such as Gandhi had advocated a few generations before – “Being the Change”. To me, he was so right: the only real and lasting change we can make to the world is a change in consciousness. That is why people are getting so excited about Five Gateways. Finally, after centuries of outer struggle, there is a well marked inner landscape to change not just our lives, but those of evolving souls everywhere.
